The City of Chesapeake is a member of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and is recognized as the third-most populous city in the state. Chesapeake features a diverse array of landscapes, including urban areas. protected farmland, large forests, and distinct wetlands. In fact, a substantial portion of the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge is located within city limits.
