Virginia Beach is an independent city in the state of Virginia with a population of almost half a million. It is the most populous city in the state even though it has a suburban disposition. The city is part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area and is perfectly located along the Atlantic Ocean. It is part of the area that is known as “America’s First Region.”
Virginia Beach is valued for its long beaches and oceanfront tourist infrastructure. It is in fact referred to as a resort city. It is famous for its East Coast Surfing Championships and North American Sand Soccer Championships. Virginia Beach holds the Guinness world record for the longest pleasure beach. Some of the major components of the city’s economy include tourism, agribusiness, military, and retail. Some of the major corporations and organizations with headquarters in the city are Amerigroup, Operation Blessing International, Christian Broadcasting Network, and Stihl.
